Local author Harry P. Haldt III will join us for a discussion about how he came to write his latest book, “Upper To’gallants and Rusty Scuppers: Adventures of an Amateur Mariner", about his father's teenage maritime adventures. 

Hear about the amazing family discoveries that were made serendipitously in an attic, research efforts to corroborate details, and decades spent crafting this delightfully entertaining tale of a high schooler working aboard freighters, yachts, and cruise liners in the 1930s.  

Harry will share the incredible story behind the writing of this book, answer questions about writing memoirs, and read some passages from it. An inspiring story about the role time plays in recording our family history, the missed opportunities we have in capturing them, and how it's never too late to start writing them down.
