On April 8, 2024, the sun will go dark in one of nature's greatest spectacles: a total solar eclipse. This phenomenon happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, blocking out the sun for several minutes.  Looking directly at the sun can injure your eyes, but if you want to watch the eclipse, you can safely view it with a shoe box solar viewer. This type of viewer is also known as a pinhole projection because the image of the solar eclipse is projected through the pinhole onto a viewing surface.

This project is for kids ages 0-11- younger children will need adult assistance.
