The Roaring 2020's Jazz Combo is back in Lunenburg! Join us for an energetic performance of some classic tunes that will inspire you to tap your feet, sing along, and dance where is room.
THE ROARING 2020'S JAZZ COMBO is a quartet that plays standards of the 1920's onward. They play the tunes with a present-day jazz perspective. The group consists of saxophone, clarinet, guitar or banjo with harmonica and percussion. Vocals are by all members of the band. The group members come from varied musical backgrounds and from varied genres of music.
Nat Blankenship, originally from Oregon, is a local music educator who studied saxophone performance at the Boston Conservatory. He has performed with Bob Mintzer.
Paula Cookson Luria is a retired public school teacher, plays the clarinet which she played in middle school and high school. After a long hiatus, she resumed playing and now performs at different venues. She has performed with the Noonday Farm singers and Odetta.
Steve Brown is a long time Irish, Cajun and all around folk and jazz percussionist who is the twice "All Ireland Rhythm Bones" champion. He also plays the penny whistle and has performed with many groups in the region.
Paul Luria plays guitar or banjo and harmonica. He has been a performer for over 60 years and is a product of the 1950's and 1960's New York City folk scene and jazz clubs. He teachers guitar, ukulele and harmonica locally and performs with Paula.
Registration is encouraged to help with room setup, but is not required.
